My Top 6 ‘Touching’ Hollywood Movies

I felt like recording the Top 6 ‘Touching’ Hollywood Movies I have watched. They are :

  1. The Shawshank Redemption – With a score of 9.2/10 on IMDB, this movie tops IMDB’s TOP 250 list since decades.
  2. The Great Debaters – It is a movie that takes up the issue of Black v/s White, in a very sensitive manner.
  3. Invictus – A movie that marks to legends, South African  President “Nelson Mandela” and the person who played it “Morgan Freeman“.
  4. The Pianist – A very slow, sensitive movie, showing the Ghetto Period and the painful life story of a Jewish Pianist.
  5. Cast Away – Very touching acting by the very skilled Tom Hanks, in a brilliant, lone-on-an-island drama.
  6. The Terminal – Another great performance by the very special Tom Hanks.  Shows Comedy in pain.

Each of these movies, makes you smile, sometimes laugh, and sometimes weep. They are very touching to every human being with a heart.

The best part about these movies, is that they make you realize the value of the human life and tells you that there is this very tiny sweet, good, part; in each one of us. But most importantly, they teach us how to be happy in adversities and how, “HOPE,IS SUCH A GOOD THING”!

Daily Diary 25-10-2010

Had a Bad Bad Day!!!!

If there exists something called a bad-day, it was today. Start to end, bad.

Got up late, missed gym(again). Followed by sore eyes due to prolonged lack of sound sleep.

Also woke up to know that my mid-year appraisal was JUST A DREAM!!!

Left home, only to realise that my cellphone was dry of talk-time/balance. When I reached office to login to my Bank Account to Recharge my phone, I realised I had made the final unsuccessful attempt to login to my account (of the 5 permissible attempts). So account blocked for further login attempts, for the day. And a talk-time less cellphone.

The day progressed with an attempt to resolve long-due Critical Bugs, suggestions to which were random and inaccurate. And along with a good headache, the day was already the worst in a long time.Lunch was good though.

But what came post lunch, convinced me of a bad day. Broke my spectacles in a very freak incident. Now I was sitting there with watery eyes, in front of my machine, trying to solve bugs. However,I figured out by evening, I figured out a way of solving through them

Finally, got some reprise as I reached home and settled in front of my laptop, cozily. Bad day, good night. Send your good brethren tomorrow onwards.

What is charity??

Of all I know about Charity, it isn’t donating for sure. Charity is not empathy, sympathy, pity. Charity
means the will to promote independence. It is a will to let under-privileged grow to their potential. It is
the ability to let someone get opportunities same as yours. The will to let competition breed. The will
to help people defeat you. It is a means of promoting social equality. It isn’t about helping others. Its
also isn’t about seeking blessings of God. It’s the ability to let others challenge your position. Charity
isn’t godly, its humane. There is no word called donation, there is only self challenges. Don’t really know
what this piece of text means. But I feel this.

Daily Diary – 24th October 2010.

Woke up to find the whole house messed up, parents and siblings cleaning the house, as a part of
Deepavali preparations. A very nice and bright morning , with a lot of plans for the day, made me feel
very happy and focused. Day – Long Meeting session at Oberoi Mall, discussing the in and out of our new
venture with Rashmi, Niidhi, Aditya. Learnt a few problems with my communication skills. Learnt close
friends/business partners get offended when one is not polite enough. Was time I learnt that, anyway.

Chocolate Fatasy of Cafe Coffee Day

Choco-Hola and Chocolate Fantasy at CCD rocked and let me see some precious smiles.

Learnt that
spending judiciously isn’t a crime. Its rather an art I fair at.

Planned to contribute to the ‘Ek Jodi Kapda’ Initiative, late at night. Have a few dozens of clothing that can be
helpful. However, the collection center; Malaika Electronics,Bhayandar West, did not accept the clothes citing lack of space due to non-clearance of previous donations from his shop.

Plan to sleep early tonight. Must hit gym regularly tomorrow onwards and must get efficient at work.
Hope I live upto the plan. Will write about that tomorrow.

Ek Jodi Kapda

Ek Jodi Kapda

Ek jodi Kapda is an initiative to provide the basic necessity of clothing to the people who are Below Poverty Line(BPL). It is supported by Consumer Electronics Company Whirlpool and NGO GOONJ

The initiative aims at collecting abandoned clothes of good structure and distributing them amongst the BPL people, across the nation. Especially on the eve of the strong North Indian winters, which is the cause of death of several hundreds every year, the initiative looks well placed.

For a long while, me and a lot of my friends were wondering as to where can we donate that expensive jeans of mine, which is tight coz of our McDonald’s-type eating habits. Ek Jodi Kapda is the perfect answer.

It is very easy to locate a drop box/Collection centre near you, using their Drop Box Locator.

Since greats like Socialite and actress Shabana Azmi is the ambassador for the initiative, we can rest assured that the initiative is not a fraud or an ad-gimmick by a Multi-National Company.

I request you to clean up your cupboards off the old clothing and donate them at a drop box near you, well before the winter starts.

22nd Birthday. Loved it!! :) :) :)

22nd birthday was one of my best till date. A lot of people and things made it so special.

The day began with the usual wishes of close friends and family at midnight. Morning
was good, but the guilt of having missed the gym for umpteenth day in a row, tried dampening it a bit.

Office greeted with the customary ‘birthday mail’ over the company intranet. But the
HOD’s email wish completely stumped me. Then my whole team wished, along with my
friends from training.

Time was for cutting my first cake of the day.
thanks for the splendid surprise of cake, followed by decoration of balloons at my cubicle.
It was a very very pleasant surprise. We all had lunch at McDonalds, as a small token of
appreciation for their wishes.

After some work, was time for cutting cake no. 2 by my team. Another surprise!

Left early for home to receive a very needed new phone as gift from parents. My new
Nokia E 63.

Then was time to cut two more cakes, 1 from my siblings and the other from Rashmi(she
baked it herself). It was the best gift. The feeling of a hand-baked cake is above all. They gave me some really wonderful gifts….

The day concluded with an exploration of my mobile phone and other techy
Logitech WebCam

one of my best birthdays ever. Glee!!
